STELLA ORISKO It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Stella Orisko at the St. Boniface Hospital on September 1, 2009. The family would like to thank Dr. O. Domke for his care throughout the years. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1500 Day St., Transcona with Rev. Fr. Bill Wasyliw officiating. Interment will take place at the Dauphin Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Wow, tears are rolling as I was just on facebook looking to make a king George V reunion and instantly thought of Ms Orisko ... She by far was the most amazing and most wonderful teacher I have ever known. I was blessed to have her teach us grade five then also grade six. As many have said she was very strict but very fair. Remembering her teach us the Ukrainian Christmas song in which I have never forgotten, then there was the sleep over at the school. I Will never forget you Stella... R.I.P. Ms. Orisko was my teacher at King George V school in and around 1984-1986. She was by far the best teacher I've ever had. The kindest most caring teacher. She was strict but fair, I left that school and went onto Junior High then High School but I always remembered Ms. Orisko. When I was around 25 years old I looked up her phone number and to my surprise I found her number in the phone book and called her up one day. Now I wasn't sure if she would remember me but sure as heck she did. I talked with her for a good 20-30 minutes and it was like no time had passed at all. I met Stella at a George Strait concert in 2006 and had a hoot of a time. What a nice wonderful lady. She drove out to Notre Dame and dropped off some pictures from the concert.
